Any sweat young Ladies out there who would like to go with me to revisit the
sites under more independent circumstances please feel free to write me at
nflb@writeme.com Or maybe you would
like to share a few winter weeks with me at my house
on the Gulf of Mexico.
My impressions of Germany include a "sofa built" blonde maid in black apron
with cris cross lace and white short sleeve blouse dropping her handkerchief
and a worker there rushing up to her and groping her. They moved backwards
to the closet beneath the stairs. Poppy Joe introduced me to German white
wine, which we had with fish. I found the Autobond more boring than an
interstate. The largest car was a large Volkswagon beetle.
Cologne Cathedral
In Cologne Joey would have passed by this St. Peter's "Kolner Dom", famous
in Germanies reform with great choirs. Joey was amazed at the doors. He took
this photo and said we might see similar doors at another cathedral in France.
Rhine Castle
This abandoned castle once "protected" the Rhine so that the local lord could
charge a toll on river traffic. (Maybe called "Marksburg"?)
Rhine Palace
This palace (maybe "Burg Rheinstein"?) was still used as a girls school.
There were stories of Bavarian boys in a school at water level, climbing the
hill to reach the girls. About half the Rhines hills were terraced for grape
vines. I felt relieved to again be on the water and surrounded by beautiful
nature. As a Newfoundlander I only bare the tension of Europe's urban crowding
and Poppy Joe's criticism. Although of little historical significance, I
enjoyed the Rhine trip the most in Europe. Venice and Pompeii were a close
second.
Rhine Barge
Note the enormous logs coming down from some wooded valley in the Alps.
