European Bus Tour with Poppy Joe
The photo's were taken by Newfoundland and Labrador's ex-Premier and last
living "Father of Confederation" Joseph Robert Smallwood. We arrived in London
on July 22, 1976 for a European bus tour. This bus tour was taken as a cover
Joey's visiting his Geneva Bank. All his other grandchildren refused to go.
Joey was bossy and cantankerous, while we grandchildren all had dirt bikes and
better ways to enjoy our Summer. Never less, Aunt Mabel (Ramsay Smallwood's
wife) who defended her children's choice not to go, accused me of being
favoured with a European tour, despite my being the last asked and only one
devoted enough to make the sacrifice. However, she was correct. I was the
golden child, noted for my high intelligence and interest in improving
Newfoundland's economy.
Any sweat young things out there who would like to go with me to revisit the
sites under more independent circumstances please feel free to write me at
nflb@writeme.com Or maybe you would
like to share a few winter weeks with me at my house
on the Gulf of Mexico.
Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, London, England
A very good African religious speaker. Joey especially enjoyed Speakers
Corner, saying that he would often visit London when he was a starving poor
young socialist just to listen to them speak and debate.
End of Tour
The tour ended where it began, in London. Poppy Joe got on the correct train
to London, switched to what he claimed was on the right train, and switched
back to the first train just before it left. What was strange was that
another fellow likewise followed us to each train. Just before the train left
that fellow went outside and looked in at us before reboarding our train.
On a street lined with Arab airlines, near Speakers Corner, Poppy Joe walked
down the street and asked me to spot anyone following us. I noticed someone
across the road behind us keeping up with us. Poppy Joe stopped at a store
window and looked inside. I watched our pursuer in the windows' reflection,
before I noticed Poppy Joe was also looking at him in a mirror on display.
Poppy Joe walked further, turned around and told me to take a long drink at
a public water fountain, and to stay there. After drinking I looked around
but could not find Poppy Joe. Our pursuers were now running back and forth.
One even bumped past me. I started to panic and figured Poppy Joe had shot
down the nearest alley.
When our pursuers were heading away from me I ran down the alley and noticed
picture windows extending out into the alley. I ran inside and felt safe. I
looked at postcards when I saw the fat pursuer run by and heard his running
stop. I ducked and moved to the magazine rack where I crouched down to read.
I saw his head move in the door and he went to the counter for a while. In my
panic I thought he was some pervert. Then the thin pursuer entered and the
fat fellow left with him. Just then Poppy Joe entered the store from a door
from inside the building! He never said anything and we left together.
With all that has happened since, I am now convinced they were RCMP sent to
Europe by the P.C.s to prove Poppy Joe had a Switz bank account of corrupt
earnings. But Canada had paid Poppy Joe those millions to front in their
conspiracy to railroad NfLb
into Canada. The only criminals were in fact the Canadian Government who
assassinated members of our
National Assembly. Taking foreign bribes from the Canadian Government may
have been a crime to the Nation of Newfoundland, but not to Canada.
